Where Is This Place is an AI-powered photo geolocation tool that helps you figure out where a photograph was actually taken. It starts by checking the EXIF GPS metadata embedded in your image — all locally in your browser — and instantly shows the exact coordinates whenever they're available, so nothing needs to leave your device.
If the photo has no GPS metadata, the vision model steps in and analyzes visual clues such as signage, architecture, road markings, vegetation, terrain, and infrastructure. From these details, it generates up to five ranked location predictions, each geocoded with OpenStreetMap and shown on an interactive map with confidence scores, so you can quickly judge which result looks right.
Where Is This Place supports JPG, PNG, WebP, and iPhone HEIC images, making it a handy companion for photography, travel, OSINT, journalism, research, and recovering the locations of personal photos lost to a fading memory.
