Man, 57, Gets Lost in Mountains After Following AI Advice, AI Replies 'Haha, True'

A 57-year-old man in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, got lost in the mountains after following AI advice on a hiking trip and had to be rescued by firefighters. According to local fire officials, Yang took a different route down after reaching the summit on August 30. He asked an AI app for directions, which suggested climbing away from the stream bed, but the area was steep and slippery, and after going back and forth, he exhausted himself and called for help.

Firefighters initially searched using his location but couldn't find him. After re-establishing contact and sharing real-time location, they adjusted their search and eventually found him by calling out. After being rescued, Yang texted the AI, saying 'If I hadn't asked you yesterday, I would have just used navigation,' and the AI replied 'Haha, true,' admitting that following the usual route would have avoided the steep ditch.
