Meta AI assistant Muse accused of reading macOS notifications without permission
Meta's AI assistant Muse has been accused of a permission flaw. Jason Aten, a contributing editor at Inc. magazine, said that even without granting Muse access to the Messages app on Mac, Muse could still answer questions about his message content and claimed it got the information through notification previews.
David Singleton, an executive at Meta Superintelligence Labs, responded that Muse needs users to actively grant Full Disk Access to read Messages app data, and stressed that Muse does not monitor Mac notifications, only collecting data after explicit user authorization.
The two sides clearly disagree on how Muse obtained the information, and the matter remains to be clarified.
