Meta removes AI feature that used public Instagram photos

Meta recently launched an AI image feature that let users reference public Instagram accounts by @mentioning them. It was on by default, requiring users to opt out, which sparked privacy concerns and criticism from Hollywood talent agencies.

A Meta spokesperson said the feature was meant to be a creative tool but didn't get it right, so it's been removed. The company had just released the Muse Image model on Tuesday, allowing profile edits via Instagram tags.
