Nolan says young audiences are rejecting AI slop
Christopher Nolan, director of The Odyssey, shared his thoughts on young audiences and AI-generated content in a recent interview with IGN. He said he doesn't believe the idea that young people's attention spans are ruined and they can't enjoy a three-hour Greek epic film. He pointed out that some parts of The Backrooms are as obscure as David Lynch's work, but young people love them anyway.
When talking about AI, Nolan said a lot of effort is going into pushing AI forward, but looking at this generation's reaction, they are completely rejecting 'AI slop'. He thinks young people can see through it very quickly because this kind of content is born on the internet, so they can spot it faster.
Nolan's comments address concerns about the flood of AI content. He believes that even though there's a lot of investment in AI tech, young consumers prefer deep and original work over machine-made stuff.
