Trump Calls AI Safety Fears a Hoax and Suggests Renaming AI

US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social and X, calling fears about AI risks a hoax pushed by radical left Democrats to destroy the country. He launched a poll to pick a new name for AI, with Superior Intelligence leading at 40.4% and over 180,000 votes cast.

Trump later said he would not let AI be weakened or destroyed, and plans to create an AI Force, similar to the Space Force from his first term. He will soon name an AI Czar. He did not explain what the force or the czar would do.

AI safety talk has heated up after an AI researcher left Anthropic and warned AI could destroy humanity before the decade ends. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang joined a call with Trump at the All-In Summit, agreeing that the pushback against AI is a hoax and saying the industry will not be allowed to slow down.
