Trump Says He Will Create an 'AI Army' and Appoint an AI Chief

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he will create an "AI army" and will soon appoint an AI chief to lead the effort. He compared artificial intelligence to the next industrial revolution or internet wave, saying it could be even bigger and might account for 25% of U.S. GDP.

Trump said his government will not block or hold back the AI industry in any way, but will support and help it grow. He also said the United States will use its criminal and civil justice systems to punish illegal acts related to AI.

Trump previously called Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during an industry summit and defended AI on speakerphone, calling concerns about AI safety a "hoax."
