Xpeng's Iron Robot to Debut in Q3, Mass Production Expected by Year-End
Xpeng's chairman He Xiaopeng said at the Q1 earnings call that the new IRON humanoid robot's software and hardware development is going well and entering the integration phase. The robot is set to debut in Q3 this year, with a goal of mass production by year-end, starting with trials in Xpeng stores.
He added that from next year, hardware and AI model revenue from humanoid robots will be a key driver for Xpeng's income and profit growth. Earlier, Xpeng held a mass production kickoff meeting with nearly 1,000 employees, signaling the start of the sprint phase.
The IRON robot, first shown in November 2024, is described as the most human-like humanoid robot. Xpeng has signed a deal with Guangzhou's Tianhe district to build a full-chain mass production base, with the first phase including high-standard factories and power stations.
