Daisy is a local-first, open-source (Apache 2.0) meeting recorder and dictation tool built specifically for Apple Silicon Macs. Everything runs on your own machine, so your conversations stay private while you capture every important moment of your calls and voice memos.
Capturing meetings is refreshingly simple: Daisy records both your microphone and system audio natively, without ever requiring a bot to join your calls. No awkward meeting participants and no external services — just clean, direct audio capture from the apps you already use every day.
Transcription happens entirely on-device, powered by WhisperKit running on the Mac's Neural Engine, and offline diarization automatically labels who said what. You get accurate, speaker-tagged transcripts without uploading a single second of audio to the cloud.
Your transcripts are saved directly as plain Markdown files in a local folder of your choosing — perfect for an Obsidian vault or any other notes setup. Because they are plain text, your meeting records remain fully yours: searchable, portable, and future-proof.
Daisy also includes a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that exposes your meetings as a queryable data source for AI clients like Claude Desktop and Cursor, so you can ask questions about past conversations. Customizable modes for voice notes and push-to-talk dictation let you capture thoughts quickly in any application.
