What if you had an AI that had read all of humanity's scientific knowledge and could help you navigate it? That was the vision behind Galactica — an AI developed by Meta AI and Papers with Code, trained on a vast corpus of scientific information and designed as a new kind of interface for accessing and exploring knowledge about the universe. It was released as a research demo to gather feedback from the academic community on large language models.

However, the demo was taken down relatively quickly due to concerns that the model could produce confident-sounding but inaccurate scientific information.
