Dropping into a large, unfamiliar GitHub repository is like walking into someone else's house in the dark — you know something useful is in there, but finding it means grep, scroll, and pray. GPTDuck is a tool that turns that experience into a conversation, helping you quickly find the answer to your questions about a GitHub repository without spelunking through every file by hand.
You input a GitHub repository link and GPTDuck downloads the repository to the server, then creates embeddings against the code so the AI actually understands the structure before you ask anything. From there, you can ask natural-language questions about the codebase and get targeted answers. Repositories need to be public, contain fewer than 200 files, and be under 100MB, keeping the tool focused and fast on projects that fit that sweet spot.
