1Password Launches a Platform So AI Agents Can Log In Without Seeing Your Passwords
AI agents are taking on tasks like ordering food, shopping, and booking tickets. Logging in is a key step, but handing passwords straight to an agent can lead to leaks or misuse.
Password manager 1Password has launched a platform called 1Password for Agents. It lets AI agents log into websites for users without ever touching or storing passwords or codes. It first supports agents like Meta Muse, OpenAI ChatGPT Work, Anthropic Claude Duet, and Grok Bot.
When an agent hits a login page, it proves its identity to 1Password with a digital key. The user then gets a notification on their device and can approve or reject the request. Once approved, 1Password fills in the login details, and the password stays in the vault.
1Password says the feature is for personal and family plans. Agents can't access the whole vault, and other passwords stay end-to-end encrypted.
