2025 China's Token Usage Grows Exponentially, Data Becomes Core Driver for AI Development

Data is known as the 'raw material' for AI development. Recently, the '2025 National Data Resources Survey Report' was released at the 9th Digital China Construction Summit, stating that China's data resources are increasingly empowering AI innovation.

Tokens are the smallest units AI large models use to process data. In 2025, China's daily token usage grew exponentially—from over 1 trillion at the start of the year to 100 trillion by year-end. The total annual usage reached about 21,100 trillion, reflecting the rapid adoption of AI applications.
