Acer Founder Stan Shih: AI Development Can't Be Stopped, Focus Should Be on Governance

Recently, the CEOs of Anthropic, OpenAI, and Tesla have called for slowing down the development of the most advanced AI. In response, Stan Shih, founder of Acer Group, said that technological progress cannot really be stopped. Acer Chairman Jason Chen also said that slowing down is unlikely, because technology will only develop faster and faster.

Chen pointed out that technology has its own pace, and the key is to effectively govern and regulate it during rapid development.

Regarding the impact of slower AI development on Taiwan's tech and semiconductor industry, Shih believes that slowing down is not easy to achieve, and Taiwan's production capacity is not enough to support the speed of AI development.
