AI Adoption in Gaming Accelerates: EA Uses AI for 85% of QA, But Job Demand Rises
AI application in the gaming industry is quietly becoming widespread. A Google executive revealed that 9 out of 10 game studios use AI in development but keep it undisclosed due to fear of public backlash. Giants like Ubisoft no longer hide their reliance on generative AI and even hire professionals with related experience.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said 85% of the company's quality assurance work is done by AI, mainly handling basic tasks like detecting crashes. However, EA's QA department is hiring more people than ever—AI's test results still need a lot of human analysis, which actually increases job demand.
Wilson stated that AI currently only plays an auxiliary role, but EA's future direction is AI. After previous layoffs, he once said AI is a key focus for the future, so it wouldn't be surprising if the company eventually replaces human labor fully.
