iFlytek chairman says China's AI computing gap will narrow fast
iFlytek's Global 1024 Developer Festival kicked off under the theme "Liberate productivity, unleash imagination," with events held in both Beijing and Hefei, Anhui. Chairman Liu Qingfeng said AI is a long race that needs people to pull together. He admitted China's domestic computing power is about two generations behind global levels, but the gap will soon shrink to one, then half a generation, and could end in running side by side or even leading. He noted few companies in China are truly investing in large model training, though more will join over time. His bigger worry is what AI means for human society, and how carbon-based and silicon-based life will merge. Liu stressed that shared goals in education, healthcare and other fields can unite millions of developers, letting AI deeply change the world on a self-controlled platform.
