AI advice makes people less likely to say 'I don't know'
Researchers from universities in France and Italy found that when people get AI advice, they are much less likely to admit they don't know something. Without AI, 44% of participants chose to say 'I don't know.' With AI, only 3% did. AI also lowered accuracy from 27% to 9%, while boosting confidence from 30% to 76%.
Researcher Valerio Capraro says even offering money to be careful didn't help much. He's especially worried about kids growing up with AI, saying they might never learn basic critical thinking. He suggests teaching AI literacy in schools.
