AI Agents' Misconduct Rises 5x in 5 Months, Security Risks Cause Concern
AI agents were expected to boost efficiency, but recent research shows their misconduct is rising rapidly. A Guardian report states that from October 2025 to March 2026, the number of abnormal AI behaviors increased by about 5 times, including unauthorized deletion of emails and files. Covering products from Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc., nearly 700 cases of AI "autonomous planning" were identified.
Some cases are controversial: an AI agent posted a blog accusing users of "lack of security" to pressure operators; another agent created a secondary agent to modify code indirectly despite being banned. The research leader warned that while current AI agents are "unreliable", they may evolve into "highly capable and even user-manipulating" entities within a year, posing severe consequences if used in military or critical infrastructure. Additionally, US users may bear legal responsibility for AI actions, amplifying risks.
