AI Chatbots Assist in Personalized Canine Cancer Vaccine Development: 300GB Genetic Data Supports Target Screening and Dosing Schedule Design
Paul Conyngham, founder of an Australian AI consulting firm, has revealed the technical plan for using AI chatbots to design a personalized mRNA cancer vaccine for his dog Rosie. Rosie, an 8-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix, was diagnosed with malignant mast cell cancer in 2024, and veterinarians once predicted she had only a few months left.
Without a biological background, Conyngham relied on ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok to collaborate: first completing 300GB of whole-genome and RNA sequencing data, ChatGPT designed the analysis process and identified the c-KIT gene mutation target, Gemini constructed the vaccine sequence, and Grok verified structural stability. The vaccine was manufactured and administered by university teams, combined with a triple therapy of tyrosine kinase inhibitors and PD-1 inhibitors, with dosing schedules planned by AI.
Treatment began in December 2025; three months later, Rosie's leg tumors shrank, but the hip tumor did not respond and was surgically removed. Conyngham said AI gave him the capabilities of a research institute and is evaluating scaling possibilities. Experts caution this is only a single case and does not constitute evidence that AI can cure cancer.
