AI Custom Kids' Books Spark Family Privacy Fights in the US
Some grandparents in the US are using AI to make custom kids' books starring their grandkids, but parents are upset and it's causing family fights. According to Wired, platforms like Imagitime, StoryWonderBook, and Childbook.ai make it super easy—just add kid info and get a story.
Parents worry about their kids' photos and personal info being handled by AI. One parent on Reddit complained that even after saying no many times, grandma still made a story with family names and characters looking like their kids. It's creepy and feels like a privacy risk.
Researcher Xu Daozhi at Macquarie University says kids find these AI books boring. They lack humor and drama, so kids lose interest fast. Worse, kids' photos might be shared or used to train AI models without clear rules. That's a big red flag.
