AI-generated images can be spotted via physics rules? Berkeley professor shares new detection methods
Those stunning images on social media might be AI-generated. While AI has fixed early flaws like deformed fingers, it still struggles with light, shadow, and perspective geometry.
A paper by Professor Farid from UC Berkeley notes AI-generated images cater to human visual preferences—they're colorful, poster-like, and easy to accept and share quickly.
He suggests checking vanishing points: real parallel lines (like corridor tiles) should converge at one point. If lines in an image don't intersect properly, it may be AI-made; reflections and shadows also follow similar rules.
