AI hasn't caused big job losses yet, says Anthropic economist
Anthropic's chief economist Peter McCrory says AI hasn't caused major job losses yet because working alongside humans works better than replacing them entirely. Even in jobs most at risk from AI automation, unemployment hasn't changed much.
McCrory notes AI currently helps skilled workers do their jobs better rather than replacing them. Models like Claude still can't handle tasks that need face-to-face talk, team coordination, or real-world interaction.
Billionaire Mark Cuban agrees humans are still better at understanding consequences and reading real-time situations - skills he says AI won't have for a very long time, maybe never. He says combining AI productivity with human judgment creates the most value. Cuban warns AI infrastructure investments might lead to too much computing power, but companies must adopt AI to stay competitive.
