China Pledges to Protect Its Firms After US Report on DeepSeek Ban
According to media reports, the US government has asked its agencies to stop using AI tools like DeepSeek from Chinese companies. DeepSeek is a Chinese AI model that has drawn wide attention around the world in recent years.
In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press conference that China has always opposed stretching the concept of national security or turning tech and trade issues into political matters, and will firmly protect the legal rights of Chinese companies.
Observers believe such restrictions reflect US concerns over China's fast-growing AI industry, and the dispute may continue to affect global AI cooperation and competition.
