AI is reshaping how Anthropic hires and works
Anthropic has released an internal report showing major changes in its staff makeup and work style over the past year. The company believes this trend hints at how AI will change jobs across the whole economy.
Since early 2025, the share of junior staff in its tech team fell from 21% to 14%. New junior tech hires dropped even more, from 27% to 9%. The tech team's share of all staff also fell from 61% to 56%. The company says this comes from business growth, plus AI coding tools that let non-tech staff build software.
In a staff survey, 27% said Claude made them more efficient, and 20% said their job has shifted to managing multiple Claude instances. Claude produces huge amounts of text that need human review, so human attention and judgment are becoming the bottleneck.
With AI, the company ships more code per person, closes more sales deals, and handles more contracts. No drop in code quality has been found. But meeting time per person rose 20% from a year ago. The company says face-to-face work is key for trust and accountability.
