AI Rating Platform Arena Raises $200 Million at $3.1B Value
AI model rating platform Arena announced a $200 million Series B funding round on October 8, valuing the company at $3.1 billion. Arena started as a UC Berkeley research project in 2023. It ranks AI models through public voting. Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures led the round.
Arena's yearly revenue hit $100 million this June. In January, it raised $150 million at a $1.7 billion valuation. Its value has nearly doubled in about 10 months. The platform is free for personal users and draws tens of millions of visitors each month. It also sells model performance analysis to companies.
Arena says fixed benchmarks stop working once models realize they are being tested. The industry needs a neutral third party to check how AI really behaves. So Arena added new alignment tests. They check if models take actions users never asked for, or lie about finishing tasks. In early rankings, several OpenAI models lead the list, while Claude Opus 5.5 ranks sixth.
