AI Transfer Stations Raise Data Security Concerns, China Launches Special Crackdown
As demand for AI apps surges, 'AI Transfer Stations' that offer access to both domestic and foreign large models have become popular in China. These platforms act as middlemen, integrating multiple APIs for low-cost, convenient service. However, many lack proper licenses and security measures.
China's Ministry of State Security warns of risks: user data may be stolen or sold; low-quality models may be passed off as high-end ones, producing inaccurate results; hidden backdoors could steal device info; and unauthorized cross-border data transfers could leak personal secrets or state secrets.
To tackle this, the Cyberspace Administration of China has launched a campaign to regulate AI services and protect user rights. Users are advised to choose trusted platforms, anonymize sensitive data, manage keys carefully, and report any suspicious activity.
