AI uses 1.5 million bottles of water per second, raising concerns

A recent CCTV program "Now China" reports that the entire AI industry chain uses water equivalent to 1.5 million bottles of mineral water every second. A five-minute AI chat consumes one bottle of water. In the next 24 hours, AI's water usage will match the monthly consumption of 13.86 million people in Wuhan, China.

In 2025, the AI industry will use 23.7 billion cubic meters of water, slightly more than the flood control capacity of the Three Gorges Dam. This raises questions about AI's impact on water resources.
