Four Google Gemini Agents Beat Minecraft on Their Own in 27 Hours
Google researchers published a paper saying four Gemini 4 agents beat Minecraft fully on their own, taking down the Ender Dragon in just 27 hours. It's the first time AI agents have finished the game completely by themselves.
The agents were placed in a randomly generated world. They only got the final goal, planned everything themselves, and coordinated through the in-game chat. They split up tasks fast: some built enderman farms, some gathered food, and others explored. They shared combat tips and picked up gear from fallen teammates.
In total, they sent 229 messages, ran 2,783 programs, and died 605 times. They spent 13.5 hours reaching The End, then used the rest to beat the Ender Dragon. The run used 1.35 billion input tokens, costing about $1,620 at normal user rates.
The team said the run only used the standard Mineflayer library, with no seed maps or human help, showing how well large model agents can cooperate and plan long tasks in open worlds.
