Alipay and StepFun team up for cross-device AI assistant 'Abao'

At the 2026 WAIC, Alipay and StepFun announced a system-level collaboration, launching 'Abao', an AI-powered version of Alipay. Users can give tasks to Abao through StepFun's large model or its native AI terminal without opening the app, enabling cross-app, multi-step operations. Initial services include food delivery, travel, and local life tasks.

On security, StepFun's AI assistant Amoo understands user requests without accessing Alipay accounts or funds, while Abao executes tasks without controlling device hardware. Critical steps like payments require manual user confirmation. Alipay plans to integrate Abao into cars, smart speakers, and glasses.

StepFun's first AI agent phone, STEPX Neo, launched on July 13, featuring a native agent system. Early ecosystem partners include Meituan, WPS, Gaode, and JD.com.
