Alipay gets a big update with new AI assistant 'Abao'

Alipay has rolled out a major update to version 12.12.1 on both iOS and Android, introducing a new AI assistant called 'Abao'. Users can chat with Abao to get things done, like paying bills or checking accounts. The app icon now includes 'AI' and the name is changed to 'Alipay - Your AI Life Partner'.

The AI version was tested earlier, and users can switch between AI and classic modes. But for now, you still need an invite code to try the AI features. This update shows how Chinese mobile payment platforms are diving deeper into AI.
