Alphabet raises $80 billion for AI infrastructure
Google's parent company Alphabet has announced an $80 billion equity raise to fund AI infrastructure and computing power. The plan includes $30 billion in public offerings, $40 billion in at-the-market stock sales, and $10 billion from Berkshire Hathaway in a private placement.
Alphabet will use the ATM proceeds for employee tax obligations. The company previously projected $180-190 billion in capital spending for 2026, with a significant increase expected in 2027. Google Cloud saw 63% revenue growth in Q1 2026, with backlog nearly doubling to over $460 billion.
