Amazon blocks Grok Bot from ordering, Musk hints at building a rival
Grok Bot is a cloud-based AI agent from xAI. People can give it tasks just like messaging a coworker. It runs on its own cloud computer, handles websites, apps and files, and finishes multi-step work. Tesla added it to cars last month, so drivers can hand shopping tasks to the AI during their commute.
Amazon has now blocked Grok Bot from placing orders on its platform. It also blocked Meta's Muse AI shopping agent, while Amazon is still building its own AI shopping tools.
For retailers that want to control traffic, recommendations and checkout entry points, this hits the traditional e-commerce model hard. Shoppers no longer need to open retail sites, since AI can finish the whole shopping process.
A user shared the problem on X and encouraged Musk to launch his own online store. Musk replied that they should perhaps create a company to compete with Amazon.
