Amazon Uses Twitch Streams for AI Training, Users Get Opt-Out
Twitch, owned by Amazon, recently announced that users can opt out to prevent their content from being used to train Amazon's AI models. This confirms that Amazon has been using Twitch streams for AI training. Twitch's community lead Mary Kish said in a live stream that they expected strong backlash, and indeed, the chat was flooded with hundreds of anti-AI messages. Several popular streamers also criticized the move and the default opt-in setting on social media. Twitch's chief product officer Mike Minton said he didn't know exactly how Amazon used the content, but noted that almost all public content might be used for training. Users can disable this in privacy settings. Amazon acquired Twitch in 2014.
