AMD unveils Threadripper Halo Station for running giant AI models locally
At the IFA 2026 trade show in Berlin, Germany, AMD's senior VP Jack Huynh introduced the Threadripper Halo Station workstation. This 'personal supercomputer' is built to run huge AI models with over one trillion parameters right on your desk, reducing reliance on cloud services.
The machine packs a 96-core Ryzen Threadripper PRO processor, two Instinct MI350P accelerators, and up to 2TB of system memory. Later, you can add more cards to reach 576GB of fast HBM3E memory. Everything uses liquid cooling to keep it from overheating.
This workstation targets professionals in AI research and deep learning. Running big models locally helps with sensitive data and quick responses. With this move, AMD strengthens its spot in the pro computing market, giving developers and companies more flexible options for deploying large AI models.
