Analyst Sold Airbnb and Bought Meta After Trying Muse
Veteran independent stock analyst MBI said on the finance podcast The Synopsis that after trying Meta's Muse AI agent for about 10 days, he sold off his long-held Airbnb position and added to Meta. Muse can open the Airbnb website like a real person, enter a destination and number of guests, browse search results, and give recommendations.
MBI found that Muse supports automatic price comparison and can even bypass the platform to book directly with a host, saving about 60%. He believes AI agents could weaken the control that OTA, delivery, and e-commerce platforms have over traffic and transactions. He also introduced the idea of 'Proactive Commerce' — AI can proactively suggest cheaper alternatives or even place orders.
MBI also noted that Muse is not perfect yet: browser-style operations are slow, taking 14 minutes to compare just 5 hotels, and early results may lack images and maps. But he thinks this may be the worst version, and it will only keep improving.
