Ant Group tests AI-powered Alipay with smart assistant

Ant Group is secretly testing an AI-powered version of Alipay that requires an invite code to access. The new interface has two sections: 'Assets' and 'Abao,' where Abao is an AI assistant you can chat with to quickly use features like scan, pay, travel, and finance.

On the assets page, the AI version shows your cash, investments, and credit info in a card-style layout, making money management clearer. According to Bloomberg and Tech Planet, Ant Group refused to comment on the test, but the internal project is called 'Bao Plan' and is expected to launch soon, with updates twice a month.

Sources say the rollout will be gradual—the original Alipay remains the default, and users can switch to the AI version manually. One tester called it 'an epic upgrade for Alipay,' marking a shift from a tool app to a smart life assistant.
