Anthropic Adjusts Claude Code Subscription Policy: Third-Party Tool Usage Will Incur Extra Fees
Anthropic recently adjusted its Claude Code subscription policy. Subscribers can no longer use their subscription credits for third-party integration tools like OpenClaw and must pay extra via a pay-as-you-go plan. The policy took effect at noon Pacific Time on April 4, applies to all third-party tools, and will soon expand to more tools.
OpenClaw's developer has joined OpenAI, and OpenClaw will continue to operate as an open-source project. Anthropic stated that the subscription service was not designed for third-party tool usage patterns, citing engineering constraints, and is offering full refunds to subscribers.
In addition, OpenAI recently shut down its Sora app and video generation model to free up computing resources. After strategic adjustments, it will focus on winning over software engineers and enterprise users.
