Anthropic Engineer: Thousands of AI Agents Automate My Programming Work at Night
Boris Cherny, creator of Claude Code and an engineer at Anthropic, shared his AI workflow in an interview with Sequoia Capital. He uses the Claude app on his phone, opening multiple task sessions—each containing several AI agents—treating AI as an around-the-clock autonomous assistant rather than just a chatbot.
Cherny said thousands of AI agents do deep development work for him every night. This relies on two features of Claude Code: loop commands and routines. Loop commands can be set via local cron tasks, while routines run periodic work on servers, allowing AI agents to keep operating even when his laptop is closed. In January this year, he shared this setup on social platform X; the post has over 104,000 saves and 8.1 million views.
