Anthropic gives US teachers free access to Claude premium features
Anthropic launched 'Claude for Teachers' to give US K-12 teachers free access to its premium features. Verified educators can use a custom teaching skill library, built with Learning Commons and mapped to all 50 states' academic standards.
The platform lets teachers plan lessons with quality materials, as Claude drafts lesson plans based on state standards. Teachers can also adjust materials for different student levels to create personalized plans. Advanced features like Claude Code and Claude Cowork help analyze class data and automate tasks. Anthropic won't use teacher conversations for training.
Anthropic cited Stanford research showing AI tools for teachers can improve teaching and student outcomes. The program works with nine education partners, including ASSISTments and Canva Education. For data safety, Anthropic follows the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and works with the American Federation of Teachers on privacy standards.
Eligible teachers can verify by June 30, 2027, for a free one-year access. A version for schools and districts is coming later.
