Anthropic Hires First Global Affairs Chief, Ex-California Judge Cuellar

Anthropic has appointed Mariano-Florentino Cuellar as its first head of global affairs. He will report directly to co-founder and president Daniela Amodei and work from the company's San Francisco headquarters. Cuellar will lead policy, strategic international engagement, and government relations worldwide.

Cuellar is a Mexican-American legal scholar and public policy expert. He served as a California Supreme Court justice from 2014 to 2021 and as president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from 2021 to 2026. His appointment comes as AI regulation tightens globally, and he is expected to boost Anthropic's influence in policy circles.
