Anthropic Keeps Claude Sonnet 5 at Launch Price, No Increase

Anthropic announced on August 10 that its Claude Sonnet 5 model, launched in late June, will keep its special launch price forever. The planned price increase for September 1 is canceled. Current pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, instead of the planned $3 and $15.

Claude Sonnet 5 has a 1 million token context window and can output up to 128K tokens. It performs much better than the previous version in tasks like reasoning and coding, scoring 85.20% on the SWE-bench Verified test.

Keeping the price stable gives companies that use the model a clear cost outlook. Analysts see this as a shift from just competing on performance to also competing on total cost.
