Anthropic Responds to Claude Code Source Code Leak: Blames Human Error and Implements Preventive Measures
Recently, when Anthropic released Claude Code version 2.1.88 to the public npm registry, it accidentally included a source code mapping file, exposing over 500,000 lines of code and nearly 2000 files. Security researcher Chaofan Shou later shared a link to the files, which has received over 303.6 million views.
An Anthropic spokesperson responded that the leaked code did not involve sensitive user data or credentials, and the incident was attributed to human error. The company has since improved relevant measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
