Anthropic's Claude Code creator: It's the golden age for startups with AI tools

Boris Cherny, creator of Anthropic's AI coding tool Claude Code, is telling young developers: if you have an entrepreneurial spirit, start a startup now. He believes AI tools like Claude Code are making it easier than ever to build and scale companies.

Cherny shared that at Y Combinator, a top Silicon Valley startup accelerator, about half of the founders in a recent batch said they let Claude Code write 100% of their code. Only one person out of hundreds said they never let AI write code. Most others were somewhere between 50% and 100%.

Cherny predicts the number of people who write code or use AI agents to write code will grow 100 times. He says this is the best time in history to start a company, as AI is changing how businesses are built.
