Anthropic sued over misleading Claude Max ads
Users in the U.S. have filed a class-action lawsuit against AI company Anthropic, accusing it of misleading advertising for its high-end Claude Max subscription. The plan costs $100 or $200 per month and promises 5x or 20x usage compared to Pro, but it doesn't clearly say these multiples only apply to a 5-hour rolling window, not the weekly limit.
The lawsuit says Anthropic launched Max in April 2025, but added weekly caps months later. The terms are buried behind multiple links, making it hard for users to understand. Lawyer Monica Vaca said consumers can't figure out what they're paying for, calling it a 'black box.' Anthropic lists limits on its support page, but plaintiffs argue it's not transparent enough.
