Anthropic Upgrades Chrome Claude Extension for Cross-Platform Sync
Anthropic announced an upgrade to its Claude extension for Google Chrome on August 13, bringing a full Claude Cowork session experience to the sidebar. This update breaks down data barriers between the browser and other Claude platforms, allowing tasks and conversations to sync seamlessly across desktop, web, and mobile. Users can directly use configured Agent Skills and Connectors without extra setup. Claude can view the current webpage and perform actions like clicking links and filling forms using existing browser login states. For security, Anthropic warns that browser agents are vulnerable to prompt injection attacks, and when auto-approval is enabled, major actions are reviewed separately. Claude will ask for user consent before actions like purchases or sharing personal data. The feature is now available to Max and Team customers, with Pro users getting access in the coming weeks. Enterprise admins can restrict Claude to approved domains.
