Ashton Kutcher's Sound Ventures Secures 43x Paper Return on OpenAI Investment, AI Sector Capital Heat Rises

Sound Ventures, the fund founded by Hollywood actor and investor Ashton Kutcher, previously invested $30 million in OpenAI. Based on the latest valuation, this stake is now worth $1.3 billion, achieving a 43x paper return in less than three years. As of May 2023, the fund's portfolio already included AI companies like OpenAI, Stability AI, and Anthropic.

OpenAI recently completed a $122 billion financing round with a valuation of $852 billion. Capital inflow into the AI sector far exceeds previous cycles in the crypto industry. Investment entities have expanded from traditional venture capital to corporate and sovereign funds, and exit paths have become more diversified, indicating rapid industry maturity.
