Baidu Becomes First Chinese Tech Giant to Sponsor OpenClaw Open-Source Project, Accelerating AI Agent Ecosystem Layout
Baidu's Open Source Office recently announced on GitHub that it will sponsor the open-source project OpenClaw, becoming the first major Chinese tech company to support the project. The day before, OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger sent a cooperation invitation to Baidu, hoping it would support development, and Baidu completed the sponsorship within 24 hours.
The sponsorship funds will be 100% used for community contributors and upstream open-source projects, including code submission, bug fixes, and skill plugin development. Meanwhile, Baidu will integrate PaddleOCR's document parsing capability into the OpenClaw ecosystem as a Skill, which developers can call in Agent workflows.
From an AI perspective, OpenClaw lowers the threshold for AI Agent development. Baidu's move not only supports open source but also aims to seize the right to speak on the underlying infrastructure of the next-generation AI interaction entrance.
