Bezos: Regulate AI apps, not the tech itself
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos compared AI regulation to knives: tools can be misused, but that doesn't mean banning the tech itself. He said smart regulation should focus on applications, not overreach.
Bezos pointed to the FAA and FDA as examples of healthy regulation that improves safety and quality. He believes AI tools will eventually face similar oversight, but the key is not to overdo it.
Several US states are considering AI regulations, and companies are spending big on lobbying. The US government recently signed an order allowing AI developers to voluntarily submit models for federal review up to 30 days before public release.
