BYD Denies Rumors About Humanoid Robot Codename and Deployment Plans
Recently, rumors spread online that BYD's self-developed humanoid robot is codenamed 'Yao Shun Yu' and plans to deploy 20,000 units internally by 2026. BYD denied these claims to National Business Daily, stating they are completely false.
BYD's executive vice president, Li Ke, earlier confirmed in an interview that the company is developing humanoid robots, noting the synergy between automotive AI and robotics. She believes competition in robotics hinges on manufacturing, software, and hardware. If robots become household items, BYD may sell them through its dealer network.
Li Ke also mentioned BYD could build an open platform, either developing robots independently or partnering with other firms. She highlighted that Chinese robots lack a 'brain' while American robots have weak 'limbs', aiming for a balanced solution in the future.
