ByteDance creates new AI data and security department

ByteDance has created a new top-level department called 'AI Data and Security,' putting it alongside its Seed and Flow teams. Wang Yinglei, also known as Adam Wang, will lead the new group. This team is made up of about 100 people from the former TikTok data team, and it will provide data services for all of ByteDance's large AI models.

The department's main job covers the whole data process, including setting standards, buying data, cleaning it, and checking quality. It works from the base models to the business teams. Wang Yinglei previously ran TikTok's live streaming business, which was a big source of revenue for the company. His experience is seen as a plus for this new role.
